Oak House Working with The Smile Star Dental Charity
Andrew & Lisa have been travelling to Kenya as part of a 10+ person team consisting of 4 dentists & support staff, in November 2015; 2016 & 2017 for 2 weeks each year.
Our first week is spent working at at local hospitals in Mweiga & Nyeri, providing free acute emergency dental care and general medical advice to the local population
These are self-funded trips, arranged through Smile Star, and in association with The Safari Collection, who look after us in Kenya. The team work every day, until all of the people who dropped in were seen & treated!
In November 2016 we took Georgie, our 13 year old daughter, who helped out nursing for Andrew and even taking some teeth out whilst she was there!
For the second week, we go mobile taking our clinic to the more remote population groups within their own villages, taking our own equipment and supplies, setting up clinics wherever we can!
As well as the work we provided, we also enjoyed some great down time, seeing the local wild life and tribes, The drive to work is definitely different to Cornwall!
